I started out this project with a base coat of aqua and salmon paint mixes. I tend to start with primary colors, with black and white and make my own color mixes. Depending on the quality of paint I start with, I can usually retain hues that I like.I took my new Hazel and Ruby Stencil masks to add my phrase, then started painting. With my Princeton select 1″ flat wash, I added some painterly effects to the oceans and other bodies of water, over my stencil masks. I made the mix a bit darker to contrast the light aqua I had initially applied. I used a lunar blender to scrub in some edges around the bays and smaller bodies of water. With this Select Liner brush I added some swirly cloud like accents over my water. You can see I still have the stencil masks on. With a Sharpie™ Oil Paint Pen, I add outlines to the land masses. As this is an art project, it i wasn’t super careful on accuracy. It is a representation! Don’t plan your next vacation using it! It still looks like North America, right?? After I peeled off the stencil masks I added more dimension with black and white Sharpie paint pens. I LOVE THIS PROJECT!
